As the weather warms up and flowers begin to bloom, the change in weather brought by the spring season is a breath of fresh air compared to the cold, frigid days of winter. Spring is typically categorized by warmer air and increased humidity, both of which can have an impact on your skin. That’s why your winter skin care routine should be swapped out by one suited for sunnier days, and we are here with tips on what that routine should look like.
#1: Exfoliate winter skin
With the cold weather and dry air, winter causes the skin to become dry and flaky. As we head into warmer weather, the first step to prepping the skin for spring season is to exfoliate the dead skin cells. One of the best ingredients to exfoliate, Glycolic Acid, works by breaking down the “glue” that holds dead skin cells together, revealing newer and cleaner-looking skin.
With a whole range of skincare products including Glycolic Acid, Touch Skin Care is no stranger to this ingredient and its wonderful capabilities to enhance the skin. By using the Glycolic Acid Face Wash, you can start and end every day with a light exfoliation which works to maintain the look of smooth skin. On the other hand, you can also use the Glycolic Acid Pads every other night for a deeper exfoliation, but still gentle enough to not irritate sensitive skin.
#2: Spring-Clean your Skin Care Stash
Did you know most skin care products have a shelf life of 1-2 years? After that, they start to lose their effectiveness on the skin. So that’s why we recommend adding “old skin care products” to your spring-cleaning list. Instead, treat yourself this spring and buy a brand new skin care routine. There is nothing like splurging on a new routine!
We have made this super accessible to you by creating skin care bundles for all different skin concerns! Check out our KP Bundle which contains our best-selling Exfoliating KP Body Wash and Body Lotion for treating Keratosis Pilaris. We also have an Anti-Aging Bundle, with our Glycolic Acid Pads, Glycolic Cream, and Anti-Aging SPF Moisturizer. And last but not least, the Acne Bundle includes our Glycolic Acid Face Wash, Acne Treatment Gel, and Anti-Aging SPF Moisturizer.
Head into spring feeling fresh and beautiful like the flowers all around you, and invest in that skin care routine.
#3: Ditch your heavy moisturizers until next winter
Since spring brings warmer and wetter weather, it is no longer necessary to pack heavy moisturizers on to your skin (unless you have really dry skin year-round) because the increase in moisture in the air allows the skin to feel more hydrated with less product. You can just tell the difference when you step outside in 30 degree weather versus 70 degree weather, and that change in temperature has an effect on your skin!
The key to hacking moisturized skin while not having to apply heavy moisturizers is to pay attention to the ingredients in the moisturizers you use. Hyaluronic Acid is one of the best ingredients for hydrating products, as it works by pulling the moisture from the air into the skin, which continually keeps skin moisturized throughout the day.
Both our Glycolic Cream and our Anti-Aging SPF 30 Moisturizer contain an ingredient called Sodium Hyaluronate, which is a derivative of hyaluronic acid, thus working the same. The difference is that Sodium Hyaluronate has a lower molecular weight, allowing it to be absorbed by the pores a lot easier.
Another ingredient that works great for hydrating products is Glycerin, which is a humectant similar to hyaluronic acid, and it works similarly in that it attracts moisture from the air into the skin. Our Bright & Clear Cream contains this ingredient along with Niacinamide which, together, work to continually hydrate the skin.
