This ‘Outer Banks’ star talks about dealing with her cystic acne

Pogue Life! Have you watched the latest season of ‘Outer Banks’? It was released at the end of July and it has created tons of buzz all over social media. If you haven’t seen this show yet, go check it out on Netflix!

The release of season two has brought us back to when the show first came out and the main character, Madelyn Cline, created a YouTube video for Harper’s Bazaar showing her nighttime routine. In this video, she discusses how she has dealt with stubborn cystic acne over the years and you would never even think she had acne because of how incredible her skin looks.

In the video, she mentions a couple of tips for dealing with stubborn acne that we wanted to summarize here on this blog. Many of the products used in her video will cost you an arm and a leg, so don’t worry! We have provided an alternative that you can find here at Touch for each product mentioned. We believe that it is not necessary to break the bank for good skin, and our products prove that.

Tip #1: Use benzoyl peroxide for treating stubborn acne

We went into depth about the many benefits of benzoyl peroxide on this blog post here: 6 Reasons Why Benzoyl Peroxide is Effective for Acne. But to summarize, benzoyl peroxide works to treat and prevent acne by killing bacteria underneath the skin, as well as helping the pores shed dead skin cells. Being the most effective acne-fighting ingredient, benzoyl peroxide is definitely one to try out if you are dealing with stubborn acne.

Our Acne Treatment Gel contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, making it super lightweight and perfect for daily use. It also immediately fights facial and body acne, prevents future breakouts, and reduces redness. Madelyn Cline talks about using a face wash that contains benzoyl peroxide and since this ingredient comes in many forms, any product you use with it should be effective!

Tip #2: Vitamin C for brightening the skin

The ‘Outer Banks’ star goes on to apply Vitamin C to her skin after cleansing, which is great for brightening up the skin. Unfortunately, the products she mentions are hundreds of dollars. But there’s no need to worry! An incredible alternative to these high-price items is our Collagen Moisturizer. Containing Vitamin A, C, & E, our Collagen Moisturizer is packed with powerful non-comedogenic ingredients that provides all day hydration to protect & strengthen your skin while also reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Tip #3: Using a facial mist or toner for freshening up the skin

Although the normal order of skincare products is cleanser, toner, then serum, the ‘Outer Banks’ star puts on a face mist after the serum. The reason you want to apply toners or mists before serums is to allow the skin to fully absorb the liquid product before applying a thicker product like a serum or cream. A great alternative to the high-priced skincare product mentioned is our Glycolic Acid toner. Again, make sure you are cleansing first, then applying toner, and lastly following up with a serum and moisturizer.

Most importantly, make your nighttime skincare a ritual…

The ‘Outer Banks’ star, Madelyn Cline, talks about how her nighttime skincare routine is her favorite time of day because it’s her time to be alone and give herself self-care. And we completely agree with this! Using skincare products regularly has many benefits to your skin but it also is a time for YOU to provide your skin with TLC (tender, love, and care). So make your skincare time a non-negotiable ritual!
